SPE-03 system is designed to support a wide range of analytical applications, offering flexibility and reliability for diverse testing needs.
The SPE-03 is a powerful and efficient automated solid phase extraction system capable of processing up to 8 samples at a time. It can be used for large and small volume water, food, soil, fuel, protein and forensics sample extraction and clean up. Like all our systems, it utilizes positive pressure to deliver fluids at fixed flow rates and prevent build up in your SPE cartridges. All samples start and finish at the same time.

Our flow path integration technique gives the SPE-03 a very small footprint and can easily fit in any fume hood. Special features include bottle rinsing, separate waste outlets and nitrogen drying. 

This fully automated SPE system is the top choice for PFAS following EPA Methods 533/537/1633, DoD QSM 5.3 Table B-15, ISO 21675 and various proprietary methods. Other applications include 1-4 Dioxane, pesticides, PCBs, PAHs, mycotoxins and more.

The Presto SPE system boasts a range of advanced features, including newly integrated continuous pumps for swift sample loading. Extracting 8 x 1L samples in 80 minutes following EPA Method 525 using Mini-disks.

With individual flow control for each sample line, users have the flexibility to disable any line as needed. Additionally, pressure monitoring and flow correction functionalities adapt to variations in sample matrices, while providing cartridge pressure warnings for enhanced safety. The system's empty line detection feature alerts users in case of premature sample depletion due to clogging, leakage, or tubing placement, and intelligently stops sample loading on channels that have processed all the sample liquid.

Anti-clogging Frits

Cartridge clogging can cost hours of extraction time, which undermines one of the most important considerations in the lab - efficiency. While this might have been a common and ongoing concern, our specially designed frits can replace the original cartridge frit or simply be added on the top to address the issue. Since this multi-layer frit is less adsorptive to very hydrophobic analytes (such as PAHs and PCBs) than regular frits, the elution volume for collection may be reduced considerably if the original frit is replaced with the multi-layer frit. PromoChrom provides a tool kit to make the replacement easy.

Shown here are samples with considerable amounts of particulates extracted on 6 mL C18 cartridges. After loading 100 mL of sample, cartridge 1 is blocked significantly, whereas cartridges 2 and 3 are still working as normal.

Inline Filters

The inline filters are free of PFAS material and have no discernable effects on recovery. Below are the EPA Method 537.1 results obtained from the Orange Country Water District using the F-HC-30 filters. 4 LFBs spiked at 20 ppt were extracted.

Mini-disks

To capture the advantages of SPE disk in extraction speed and overcome its disadvantages in solvent consumption and automation, PromoChrom developed a suite of Mini-disks. The Mini-disks come in a format size similar to a 30-mm syringe filter and a cross section area 5 times of a 6-mL SPE cartridge. The increased cross section area and optimized sorbent properties enables the Mini-disks to work with much higher flow rates than SPE cartridges, whereas a smaller size than conventional disks makes the Mini-disks easily adaptable to cartridge type SPE instruments and consume less solvents.
